Damon at the 2017 Jesolo Sand Nativity
For what such objectivity is worth, he is also the tallest person to have ever graced the Sultans Of Sand uniform (the company logo-emblazooned T-shirt, which he in fact designed for me, oh those many years ago. And he is also the oldest in age.
While I am rambling on about objective measures, it pains me to also admit he has statistically dominated the chess standings here, over the years. But I am hopeful that recent trends in that regard, may be heralding a new era. (Hey, it's good to have hope, -no?)
As has been the case the past several years,-primarily at the winter shows, Damon has again eschewed the carving trowel for the painting brushes. He is once again decorating the interiors of the show with scenic paintings to compliment the 3-D sculptural elements. His contributions of color and perspectives add to the show in subtle yet important ways.
This year marks his 25th anniversary with my company, overall. And for that I really cannot express my gratitude for his service quite adequately enough. But even more importantly, I value his friendship beyond all other metrics, be they either objective or subjective.
Kudos old friend, -looking forward to the next 25!
Damon Farmer - Kentucky, USA
Damon is the most seasoned veteran of the Sultans Of Sand Worldwide "Wrecking Crew" of core carvers.
He has worked with the company every year, for a quarter of a century. Longer than any other contractor ever has.
The first week of October 2017 marks his 25th year anniversary of involvement with the SOS organization.
In some editions here in Jesolo; and at other SOS shows in various other locations,
he has acted as the art director or lead artist, numerous times..
His ample skills are eclipsed only bu his fun and winning personality.
Sometimes when not carving sand, but still engaged on the crew, he is often the chief scenic director for all the paintings
used as sets or backgrounds for the various summer and winter sand operas in fair Jesolo.
In his "real job" he is an accomplished and prolific working fine art painter. He also enjoys chess & playing music,
as well as hiking and flat-water paddling with his equally (if not even more so amazing) wife, Beth.
Together he and she are stewards of "Pooka" perhaps the coolest black cat in the USA.
(well, Ok, - maybe the second coolest)
