Lars is an artist of the first degree. Accomplished
in sculpture in some of the more unique media, he also has an eye on the
world that is a useful blend of the creative as well as practical. While
it is obvious he is a serious person, he has a perfect balance in life as
he is also quick to laugh. As a popular working artist on the pro sand sculpture
tour, and doing his own unique projects as well, we at Jesolo consider ourselves
honored that he has contributed to three shows here, in just the last two
years.

5.) Musicals
Sculpted by Lars Borst –Holland
Musicals in Hollywood cinema cover the entire spectrum of comedy
and drama,
Often beginning as stage plays later brought to film, especially
in many of the classic or early film musicals such as those written by
Rogers and Hammerstein. Some though, like the pre war hit Wizard of Oz
(which is still widely popular) were adaptations of existing books, with
music added later for the film version.
Some musicals have done extremely well at the Academy Awards.
The Sound of Music (1965) was an exceptionally successful film. At the
time of its release, it surpassed Gone with the Wind (1939) as the number
one box office hit of all time. It was the high-point of the Hollywood musical.
The sentimental, entertaining musical was nominated for ten Academy Awards,
and came away with five major wins: Best Picture and Best Director (Robert
Wise), Best Sound, Best Score, and Best Film Editing.
In 1978, the film's status as the most successful musical was
finally surpassed by the musical Grease
Singing in the Rain with Gene Kelly is a classic musical that leaps
to mind whenever one thinks of Hollywood.
And some musicals propelled already popular movie stars, singers
& dancers even further in their careers, like Liza Minelli, in Cabaret.
