|10.) Box Office Blockbusters
Sculpted by Damon Farmer - U.S.A.
The big budget movies are often the big smash hits at the box office too. The recent films to break all records are Titanic and Lord of The Rings. And it is a good thing, because they were two of the most expensive films ever to be made.
Some of the most financially successful films were “series” movies like Star Wars, the Empire Strikes Back, The Indiana Jones series, etc.
Others were box office gold as one hit wonders such as Steven Spielberg’s ET the Extraterrestrial (where one of today's superstars of Hollywood Drew Barrymore got her start). However Spielberg as a director and many of his films have taken in a large share of box office revenues over the years.
All sorts of films from comedy to action, sci-fi to musicals, and westerns to documentaries have been huge Hollywood hits financially, but they are not always critically acclaimed, nor do they always win Oscars at the Academy Awards.
