Alexi is another of the rising stars in sand sculpture. Still a recent graduate of art school, he tours professionally and competes in sand shows on a regular basis. His English is improving, and his sense of humor is showing no signs of diminishing. He has been here once before in Jesolo, and will be returning in the winter for the Nativity project as well.
Rich had first heard of Alexi from the third Russian counterpart, Pavel, while in China, working together in a sand sculpting show there. But the first face to face meeting with Alexi was in Cervia Italy, in the late 90s. They met again later in Quebec City Canada. As was the case with many Associate Sultanate crew members, Rich knew right away that he would eventually be hiring Alexi for top level shows .
