1.) All decisions of the organizers are final.
2.) $5.00 registration per team for Youth, Teen, Adult and Family divisions
     $20.00 registration per team for Open division.
3.) Youth, Teen, Adult and Open divisions: Maximum of 3 registered people per team.
      Family Division: is open to any number of  members of an immediate family
      including Grandparents per team. Aunts/uncles, nieces/nephews are not allowed.
4.) All members of a team must be registered. No substitutions allowed. Register by mail
     or in person at the Event Headquarters on site by 8:30 a.m. day of show to be assigned
      plots and to qualify for judging. Space is limited, so pre registration is encouraged.
      We cannot guarantee there will be space available if you show up late to register.
      No registrations  accepted after noon on 9/23/2000
5.) Only water and the sand from within the assigned plots may be used to construct the
      sculptures. Only naturally occurring, and biodegradable items found on the beach
      that day such as  seaweed and shells may be used for decoration. No artificial color,
      paint, flour, sugar cement or adhesives may be used.
6.)  No power tools can be used inside the plots.
7.)  Only registered teammates allowed inside the plots. Any number of helpers may be
       recruited for work outside the plots to haul water up to the perimeter of the plot,
       construct forms, organize tools, coaching or cheer leading etc. Before the beginning
       of the contest, any number of water containers may be filled, but plots may not be
       wet down prior to start times
8.) Start times: Open division 9:00 a.m.  Youth, Teen, Adult and Family Divisions
      10:00a.m. All teams stop at 2:00 p.m.. NO activity inside the plots before start times
       or after 2:00 p.m.
9.) All forms, molds, supports, tools etc. must be removed before 2:00 p.m. No
      sculptured or molded forms allowed unless the sand is carved, re-formed or altered by
       hand. The use of melon ballers or other modeling tools larger than two inches is not
       allowed unless the sand is subsequently reshaped.
10.) Plot sizes: Youth- 6’x 6’. Teen- 10’x 10’. Adult and Family-12’x 12’. Open-15’x15’.
11.) Judging will begin at 2:00p.m. Awards will be presented at Event Headquarters after
       2:30 p.m. Judging will be by a panel that picks their favorite sculptures based on
       overall  impression/ impact.
12.) The organizers reserve the right to disqualify or exclude any team or individual and
        remove or disallow any sculpture at any time if: said team or individual is in
        violation  of  the rules; conducting themselves in an unsportsman like fashion; or is
        creating a sculpture not in keeping with a familial decorum as deemed appropriate
        by the organizers.

2nd Annual Sand Sculpting Contest
September 23, 2000

Divisions

Youth:  Ages 12 years and younger.
Adult assistance is limited to the verbal. 1-3 persons  maximum.

Teen: Ages 13 to 17 years.
Adult assistance is limited to the verbal.   1-3 persons maximum.

Adult: Ages 18 and older.
1-3 persons maximum.

Family: All Ages.
Open to as many persons per team as in an immediate family
including grandparents.  Aunts/uncles, nieces/nephews not permitted.

Open: All ages.
This division is for the serious sand sculptor or the more advanced
practitioners, semi-pro and pro.

*Youth, Teen, Adult and Family divisions compete for trophies and prizes for first,
second and third place in each division. A person or team cannot place more than
once.
The start time is 10:00 a.m. The stop time is 2:00 p.m.
Total: 4 work hours
 

*Open Division competes for trophies and $100 first prize, $65.00 second prize
and $35.00 third prize.
The start time is 9:00 a.m. The stop time is 2:00 p.m.
Total: 5 work hours

*There is also a single trophy; a prize and $50.00 awarded to the sand sculpture
that best Incorporates a “Lobster Theme”

Sixteen awards will be presented. Including Trophies, prizes and a total of $250.00 Local merchants provide prizes awards for promotional consideration.

Youth, Teen, Adult and Family Division:
  Trophies and prizes for first, second and third.

Open Division:
  Trophies and $100.00 first place, $65.00 second place, $35.00 third place.

Best “ Lobster” Theme: One Place Only. Trophy and $50.00

The awards ceremony and prize presentation will take place at the inside stage at Schooners beginning at 2:30 p.m. 9/23/00.

All registered contestants please by close by at the awards presentation area. Award winners (the entire team) will be asked to come up to the presenters to receive the awards and pose for photographs.

Awards Program:
2:30   Announcements  & acknowledgment of sponsors organizers and volunteers.
2:32 Intro of Judges
2:35 Trophy and prize awarded to the Youth. Third place through First.
Then as follows: Teen, Adult, Open, Best Lobster Theme.
3:00  Conclusion. Spectators are invited back to 2001 Sand Castle Competition.
 

   By registering, you agree to abide by the rules and regulations of  SCHOONERS SAND BLAST 2000. All decisions of the organizers are final. Schooners and any employees or assigns will not be liable for any loss or injury resulting or arising from participation in this sand sculpture contest. Parent or guardian must monitor and be responsible for minor children at all times. All rights reserved. No registrations accepted without appropriate signatures and proper registration fee: $5.00 per team (exception Open Division = $20.00 per team). No registrations accepted and no refunds given after noon on 9/23/2000.
