The Tent

Jesolo, Venice Italy November 20, 2003: This is the newly erected tent which is being rented for the next eight weeks. In it, will soon be seven vignettes of sand sculptures on display from December 08 2003 through January 13 2004. The 25 plus ton sculptures will render the story leading up to the birth of Christ including the traditional nativity scene. The tent is located at Piazza Marconi on the Jesolo Lido just twenty minutes down the coast of the Adriatic Ocean from Venice, Italy. About one hundred yards behind this tent is the beach.

Inside, complimenting the approximately 200 tons of custom sand will be a raised and carpeted floor, a dynamic sound and lighting scheme, plants and holiday decor, a photographic exhibit of how the show was put together including past years' events, and a merchandise outlet where postcards and posters of the works created in this and previous events at Jesolo will be on sale. The tent will be heated with natural gas and be open seven days a week. From 10:00AM to 10:00PM weekdays, and later on weekends and during the holidays. Admission is free. Over 100,000 visitors are expected to tour the exhibit in just over 30 days.
