John Gowdy is a graphic designer, sign maker, stone sculptor sand sculptor, painter, sketch artist, and also retired as a captain from over 20 years as a full-time firefighter. This is one energetic and busy guy. He made the 'gag photo op panels' from wood covered with styrofoam, which he sculpted then coated with sand to blend in with the rest of the show. Unlike all the other 'real' sand sculptures on exhibit in the show, these photo op panels are not made with just sand and water alone. There is one more of these panels not pictured, that is of a bucking bronco- if anyone has a photo of it, please send me one to include here. Thanks!

Who doesn't like a good gag photo opportunity? These panels were made from plywood and styrofoam, sculpted and coated to look like real sand sculptures, but they aren't. These can be made to any specification. But our master sculptor John Gowdy made three sets of these for the Wild West theme, and they are a big hit at this years show.
