Kevin is an American living in Australia, and another one of
the major competition award winners on the team. He has vast experience
in designing, directing and producing all sorts of sand projects himself.
Not surprising, since he is one of the principle partners in the
Sandscapes company. This was his
second year working on the SOS crew for the summer show, and he was joined
by his lovely wife Gina for some european travel during his comp time and
afterwards as well, as Kevin continues his working tour this season. |

The Gold Rush
The great California Gold Rush of 1849 was big,
but it was not the only one. Many people from the east left their homes
and careers to strike out for the gold to be found in the west. So too,
did many other people from as far away as Europe, Japan and China. Some
miners hit it big, but most did not. There were many methods employed, from
pit mining in cooperation with teams of people, to panning for gold
in streams and rivers by the single prospectors. In those times, an ounce
of gold would buy a nice suit of clothes, a good meal, and a nights stay
in a hotel. Just about the same as it would today.by Karen Fralich and Kevin Crawford Canada and Australia |
