Scene Three:
 JOSEPH'S DREAM

 (Matthew chapter 1 verses 20-21)
But while he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying "Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins."

Mark Anderson - Professor Emeritus: School of Hard Knocks. Weymouth, England
Mark hails from a long history of professional sand sculpting.  He operates  a sand sculpture theatre on the south coast of England at Weymouth, where each season sand sculptures are built for the pleasure of the tourists, as had been done by his grandfather the late Fred Darington, since the time just after the first world war.
I had heard of Mark and his Grand Dad, way back in the mid 1980's from tourists that had seen their work in England when they traveled to  the opposite Atlantic coasts and visited where I was doing sand sculptures back then , in Florida. When we finally met face to face at some sand competition or other later on, (I don't remember exactly if it was in Russia or Canada) his reputation had preceded him. We became fast friends right away. Besides doing his own commercial jobs at home in the UK and abroad, Mark has been an integral part of the Sultans Of  Sand organization here in Italy for many years, and at both the signature Jesolo events.  Mark has been  a lead field engineer on the summer show for the last half dozen years or so.  He has an elegant carving style,  and is otherwise an all round fun guy to hang out with. If you don't mind losing at just about any game you might play with him, that is. Particularly hand/eye coordination things like billiards,  bocci, arcade racing games and the like.
Hidden talents include: Well,  what you see is pretty much what you get with this fellow.  I hope Mark will be included in many more of the SOS projects here and elsewhere in the future.

Mark Anderson is an Englishman who, since the time he was just a lad has been keen on sand sculpting. During his summer holidays he helped his grandfather, a sculptor, who already worked doing sand sculptures on the beach of Weymouth for many, many years.
After leaving school he experienced other jobs, but Mark felt that his grandfather's lifestyle was the ideal for him, too. He started as an apprentice sculptor in 1988.
Now he has a permanent gallery on the Weymouth Beach where from March to September he molds sand and in addition to this he travels all over to organize new work projects.
