Louis, Mo. USAGraduate: Kansas State University 1999 Dan is the man. Well, ok... maybe not THE man, but he is a man. The man to beat (if you can) if you are in world class competition creating sand sculpture these days, anyway. In addition to dozens of international awards, tons of them from the World Championships alone, over the last decade or two, he has broken the record for winning the solo event there. That is, he has won the solo category for World Champion for the last three years running. That's just unheard of. It is not altogether surprising though, just because no one else has ever done it. His work is great, and he is deserving of the recognition and accolades he receives. It is an honor and a definite pleasure to have his wonderful contributions involved in our shows here in Jesolo both in the summer and winter. Possessed of a wry and quick wit, puns out the kazoo, and being a veritable movie-lines encyclopedia, he is one funny dude, and just great to have on any crew. I only hope to see more of him on Sultans Of Sand Worldwide gigs in the future. But, like most touring pros at the top of their game these days, he is all over the place doing jobs as a trowel for hire at other events, as well as doing plenty of his own art as well. For the second year in a row, Dan is having his friend Jennifer, who is something of a photography wiz, come over for some sightseeing with him, post event. It's always nice to see the crew bringing friends & family over to share the Italy experience. Dan has a background in landscape architecture and does commercial sculpture in other mediums as well.
