This is a year of many anniversaries...
In 1997, when Sculture di Sabbia was just an idea that was born from the city organizers, for an annual sand event that would bear the Jesolo name, the event featured only four international sand artists in a small contest.
I am very happy and proud to say I won that contest, and as a result was invited to become the art director for the show which itself has developed over time since then, as a dear young child grows into maturity.
The city of Jesolo has much to be proud of in fostering this event.
Already, at this very moment right now, at the time you are hearing my words during the inauguration ceremony for the 20th Anniversary Edition of the Jesolo International Sand Sculpture Exhibition, images of the works created here in Piazza Brescia, have already traveled all over the world on social media and the internet, where people have come to expect to see the fine exhibition of World Class sand sculpture presented here on the Jesolo Lido, every year.
It is quite probable that during this 20th anniversary year of our show, and the anniversary of "60 Years Of Peace in Europe" since the Rome Treaty was signed, the sculpture featured here on Via Bafile in our fair city of Jesolo; of "Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Sand" -depicting the Beatles most famous album -which this year celebrates its own 50th anniversary, will go viral with hundreds of thousands, -if not millions of clicks and views.
Bravo Jesolo! For raising such a wonderful child that is Sculture di Sabbia, which has come into adulthood to make you the city / the parents of this event, so duly and justifiably proud.
Again I say, Bravo, Jesolo! And well done!
